Located on the north bank of the McKenzie River, Deer Creek Hot Springs (also known as Bigelow) is a naturally occurring hot spring in the Willamette National Forest. Because of its proximity to the river, the best times to visit are in the Summer and Fall, when water levels tend to be lower.
A rock ringed pool has been built (approximately 8 by 13 feet) which is a couple feet deep at best. The temperature varies from 85 degrees Fahrenheit to 104. The floor of the pool is covered with sand. The area is surrounded by beautiful ferns and conifers and is just feet from the roaring McKenzie.
Access:
From Blue River, travel east on Hwy 126 (past Hwy 242) to Forest Road 2654 (the sign will say “Deer Cr Rd”) which forks to the left. There will be a parking lot on the right (just past a bridge). Follow the trail leading downstream from the parking lot. The springs are a short walk from there.
