Eugene/Springfield PRIDE is the largest Queer event in Eugene, the second largest PRIDE in Oregon.
PRIDE (Promoting Respect in Diverse Expression) is a celebration of the Stonewall event in New York in 1969. The event was a demand for equal rights for the homosexual community.
Eugene/Springfield PRIDE is also a member of InterPride an international association of PRIDE events and coordinators. Through this effort, Eugene/Springfield PRIDE is educating our community about other areas in our country and particularly those abroad who do not have the freedom or protection of having a PRIDE March or event with out terrible violence and hate. This year Eugene/Springfield PRIDE will have a special booth dedicated to our own community's Queer history as well as DVD's about places in our country that still struggle with equality and those in other countries such as Russia, Belarus where being homosexual could mean a death sentence. The purpose of this exhibit is to remind our community that there is still much work to do towards equality and how they can be involved in that work both locally and abroad.
