About Culture Source

We have three simple goals:

  • To offer a consolidated event calendar for Lane County and Corvallis
  • To support local and sustainable economies.
  • To connect and empower local artists, photographers, musicians, writers, and philanthropic groups with free six-page websites (kinda like a local my space).

No one has to pay to be listed on this site. We want to be all-inclusive and let you know what's going on. We've created sections for art, music, dance, theatre, nature, sports and more. This site is over 70% philanthropic, with endowments to cultural arts and community groups.

If we missed anything, let us know.

Yes, a lot of this stuff is available elsewhere. We spent thousands of hours collecting it into one location and hope it will save you time. The idea is synergy, inclusiveness and collaboration. Instead of tracking down websites on each subject of interest, we've linked them into one great location to save you the hassle of finding them one at a time.

Our hope is to encourage community collaboration and volunteerism. That's why philanthropic organizations receive free expanded listings here. We believe in supporting our communities. You may notice special emphasis on cultural arts, sustainability, nature, and food & wine. We can’t help it. We are tree hugging, wine drinking, musicians and artists ourselves. If you are passionate about a subject and would like to voice it here, contact us with your ideas.

Who pays for the site?

Good question. It’s advertising, but with a twist. In the old days we had to cut down a lot of trees and make paper. It cost a ton of money and it was a lousy deal for the environment. Internet advertising prices do not seem to reflect the cost savings incurred when paper is taken out of the equation.

So instead of charging thousands of dollars for broadcasting a few pixels, we decided to create affordable access for local businesses (and to do it tastefully).

Local businesses can get six page websites with us for under $17 bucks a month, with prominent targeted links on our main pages and search results. Shop around, that's a crazy good deal.
